Step by step

  1. Own it digitally. Pre-order on the Xbox Store or on xbox.com with the same account you use on your console, or redeem the code from a boxed copy (on sale November 12).
  2. On or after November 12, open My games & apps. Pre-ordered games that can be pre-installed typically show up there, often under Ready to install. You can also open the game's Store page and choose Install.
  3. Pick the right drive. Xbox Series X|S games have to be played from internal storage or an official expansion card. A regular USB drive can store them but not run them.
  4. Keep downloads running. In Settings > General > Power options, use Sleep mode and turn on keeping games and apps up to date, so the download continues while the console is off.
  5. Check your queue (My games & apps > Manage > Queue) to make sure it's actually downloading.

Can I play early by changing my Xbox time zone?
